LDC Issues Statement Regarding Recent Admissions

The Law Development Centre (LDC) has responded to public concerns regarding its 2024/2025 academic year admissions.

In a statement released on August 22, 2024, LDC confirmed that it admitted the maximum number of students for the Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice based on government resources.

This was in response to significant disappointment among many law graduates who were not admitted, given that the LDC remains the only institution in Uganda offering this essential qualification for legal practice.

With thousands of students graduating from various law schools across Uganda each year, the limited capacity at LDC has fueled calls for reform.

The Centre is currently in discussions with the Attorney General and the Law Council to determine the way forward, potentially considering an increase in admissions or even reassessing LDC’s exclusive role in legal practice training.

These developments are being closely watched, and the Bee will keep you posted.
